Hi, I'm Wei. I work at TellApart as a software engineer and graduated from Duke with a BS in Computer Science in May 2011.

I've created Groupworked, a web app to find who are the best people to work with at Duke.
I've created Askapade, a web app that lets you ask your friends for help, keep track of replies and reward them with virtual gifts.
I've interned as an iOS developer for Box.net and designed and implemented a feature that lets you access your files offline.
I've also created WeiWatch: a flexible iPhone stopwatch that helps you keep track of how long you take to do routine tasks.

On name confusion:

My given name is Jian Wei and my surname is Gan. In Chinese, the surname, or family name, is written (and spoken) before the given name, so my name in Chinese is Gan Jian Wei. However, in many western countries such as the USA, the given name is the "first name" and the surname is the "last name." Following this use of "first" and "last," my name should be Jian Wei Gan, and that's in fact what I use on my resume.

You can just call me Wei.
